چکیده

Abstract The preliminary findings of cyclic tests conducted on a series half-scale unstrengthened and strengthened masonry walls are presented. Reinforced were by (i) non-prestressed near surface mounted (NSM) glass fibre reinforced polymer (GFRP) bars (ii) prestressed NSM GFRP. Walls symmetrically vertical passing through both mortar bricks. structure was subjected to concurrent sustained uniformly distributed loads static horizontal loads. Each reinforcement method evaluated for its loading capability ductility efficiency. experimental results showed considerably higher ultimate load-carrying compared the wall. This more pronounced with GFRP bars. strength un-reinforced (USM) wall 38% technique 58% technique. failure displacement improved about 64% in 127% USM wall. Please confirm if author names presented accurately correct sequence (given name, middle name/initial, family name). Out-of-plane Behavior of Urm Walls Strengthened with Nsm Gfrp Bars

Unreinforced masonry (URM) walls are prone to failure when subjected to out-of-plane loads caused by earthquakes or high wind pressures. In this context, fiber reinforced polymer (FRP) materials may be a solution to solve or lessen the effects of this overloading. This paper describes an experimental program dealing with the flexural behavior of nine concrete URM walls strengthened with glass F...

Bridge Decks Strengthened with Near-Surface Mounted Bars Embedded in Cement-Based Grout

Near-surface mounted (NSM) bars have been used for flexural strengthening of reinforced concrete members. The data available on this type of reinforcement technique are limited and typically, the bars or strips are embedded using an epoxy. Long term durability, abrasion resistance, and compatibility of the repair are important issues with this type of repair. One untested option for embedding t...

Masonry Infill Walls under Blast Loading Using Confined Underwater Blast Wave Generators (wbwg)

The vulnerability of the masonry envelop under blast loading is considered critical due to the risk of loss of lives. The dynamic behaviour of masonry infill walls subjected to dynamic out-of-plane loading was experimentally investigated in this work. Using confined underwater blast wave generators (WBWG), applying the extremely high rate conversion of the explosive detonation energy into the k...

Journal of Composites for Construction Design of FRP-Strengthened Infill Masonry Walls Subjected to Out-of-Plane Loading

4 FRP strengthening systems for infill masonry walls are typically designed to resist flexural stresses due to out-of5 plane pressure. Previous research has shown that there are potential premature failure mechanisms due to shear 6 sliding of the infill, which could reduce the effectiveness of the strengthening system. Current design guidelines for 7 strengthening of masonry walls with fiber-re...
